Call Me, Maybe?

Today was rather, how should I say, "not so academic" in nature.  The kids gave it their all for the entire week, so I thought we would have fun today!  I'm going to try to piece this together into one video, but I really wanted to share the clips with you.  I hope you enjoy it!

It's a ME Collage

We've been reading Judy Moody Is In a Mood for our first read-aloud.  In this text, Judy creates a ME collage as a way for her new third grade classmates to get to know her.  Well, we are going to create ME collages - sort of!  Each year we (the third grade teachers) like to have our kiddos decorate their writing journals as a way to do several things:  1.  It's fun!; 2. It is a way for your kiddo's personality to come out in an unusual place; and 3. It gives your kids something to write about when they say, "I don't have anything to write about."  :) 

I'm uploading a sample of a journal - it doesn't have to be fancy...it just has to be about your kiddo!

I will talk with the kids tomorrow (Friday) and show them the sample.  I would like for these to be returned on Tuesday, September 4th.  Any questions - let me know!

It's Academic Night!

Please join me tonight at our annual Academic Night, which begins at 6:30 p.m.  Come and learn all you ever needed and /or wanted to know about third grade - including all of your opportunities to volunteer and help in and around our classroom!  I look forward to seeing you there!

Beat the Back to School Blues

Don't be caught out of "school shape."  Here are some reminders that should make the first week run smoothly:

The doors open at 7:30 a.m.  All parents and students are asked to head to the gym until the first bell rings.

The first bell rings at 7:50, followed by the tardy bell at 8:00.  If your child arrives after 8:00 a.m., he/she will need to request a tardy slip from the office.

Our specials' time is 9:25 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Our specials' schedule is as follows:
Monday - PE/Music
Tuesday - PE/Library
Wednesday - Art
Thursday - PE/Music
Friday - PE/Library
Don't forget your PE shoes!

We eat lunch from 12:05 p.m. to 12:35 p.m.

Carpool for 3rd and 4th grade begins at 3:15 p.m.  Please be sure to display the names of all of the children (if more than your own) in your carpool clearly on your carpool sign.  This helps expedite the entire process.
